An Apple A Day

Have you ever stopped to think about some of the expressions we hear over and over again through life?  Have you ever considered if they are even true?  Have you ever looked at the wisdom some of these timeless statements contain?

How Should I Focus?

There are few things I have found to be essential to my success and personal fulfillment in my life more important than focus.  Oddly enough when I took the StrengthsFinder 2.0 test, focus was one of my top five strengths yet I seem to daily struggle with it.  I addressed this challenge in Are you Distracted?  We live in a day and age where there are more distractions that ever fighting for our attention.  If focus is so important, but becoming increasingly harder to achieve, what can we do to improve our focus?

Are You Distracted?

Everyone has his or her formula for success.  I do not believe mine is revolutionary or ground breaking.  In fact it may be too simplistic.  It has been my observation that being successful in any endeavor can be broken into three simple steps:

What Is The Best? Part 2

Getting the best results in our life is really a two part process.  In my last post I shared how to start asking the question, “What is the best?” for the results we want to create in every area of our lives.  That is the first step.  We must do this if we truly want to live an extraordinary life.  Life is a journey.  Just like going on a road trip we have to know where we want to go before our GPS can give us directions on how to get there.  This is why we must first determine what the best results are before we can determine what our next steps should be.

What Is The Best? Part 1

I learned a simple, but profound truth several years ago that has significantly impacted my life for the better in essentially every area of my faith, family, friends, finances, and fitness.  That truth it the quality of our answers is determined by the quality of our questions we ask.  Another way to think about that truth is to understand if we want better answers (results) in our lives we need to ask better questions.  I covered that in more detail in WHAT WAS THE QUESTION previously.  Would you like to know a powerful question that has really caused significant growth and improvement in our lives?

Are You Misunderstood?

You have probably heard the quote,

That is completely true and I have never really met anyone who disagrees with that statement.  Yet somehow too few people ever make significant changes in their actions to yield those different results.  Why is that?  There are several reasons, but I think the simplest answer is because it’s DIFFERENT.

Swim Upstream

Have you ever thought about doing something or accomplishing something for a while and some amount of time passes only to find you are not closer to, possibly even further from, where you want to be?  Why is that?

2015 Empty Bookshelf Challenge

So I absolutely cannot take credit for this.  A friend of mine shared this idea from Jon Acuff.  I loved the idea and I accepted the challenge in 2014.  It required commitment and discipline, but it was totally worth it.  Are you up for the challenge?

5 Things Leaders Do

There are so many dimensions to leadership and it is most certainly a process not a destination.  I want to share with you a training I received from a mentor of mine, Greg Smith, in August 2013.  He shared the five things leaders do at Advocare Success School in August 2013. His training challenged me and convicted me of some areas I needed to grow in.  I am certain one or more of these insights will do the same for you.
