Do You Have A Healthy Slight Edge?

Do you want to live a healthier, happier, more productive life?  I believe everyone truly does.  Unfortunately more and more Americans are living an unhealthy lifestyle despite the fact we are the wealthiest nation in the world and information is at our finger tips with the internet.  Think about it.  We all know people (I was one of them) who start a diet and exercise routine, begin to see progress, and then over time they backslide.  Why is that?  The answer is quite simple.  We do not have a health crisis on our hands because of a lack of information.  We have a health crisis on our hands because we have bought into the wrong philosophy over time.  In order to steer this ship back on the right course we simply need to apply The Slight Edge Philosophy.

What Do You Want?

Are you getting everything you want in life?  Are you exactly where you always imagined you would be?  If you are like most men and women out there I am willing to guess the answer is, “NO”.  Unfortunately way to many individuals fail to get what they want out of life because they never take the time to first determine what they want out of life.

Should We Raise Minimum Wage?

I have noticed some debates going on recently regarding minimum wage and potential consequences both good and bad if the minimum wage was increased.  I have my thoughts about this issue, but that is not what I want to discuss here.  A truth I learned several years ago from Andy Andrews is the quality of our answers is determined by the quality of our questions.  What if the question, “Should minimum wage be increased?” is the entirely wrong question to be asking?  What if we could ask a better question and help others to ask a better question that would remove the entire need to debate this issue at all?

What Do You See?

As we continue to clean the dirt out of our glass and fill it with fresh water we will begin to change and grow our perspective.  We will encounter situations that may have previously caused us to respond in a negative way, but as we renew our minds we will now approach them in a more positive manner.  I would love to share a great story that demonstrated this very clearly for me last month.

Speak Life Part 2

In my previous post I discussed the value and importance of becoming a life speaker.  Although it is extremely important to living the life we desire it is easier said than done.

You might ask, “How do I learn to speak life?”  The answer requires us to tame our tongue.  And how do we learn to tame our tongues?  It starts by changing our hearts.

Become Intolerant

Yesterday I shared Coach Richt’s 3 Point Plan For Fatherhood.

Love God

Love your wife

Show the way

I focused on changes we as parents need to make to help our kids grow into successful adults by showing the way.  One of the most important areas we need to show the way in is by loving our wives.  Now I know we all know this and if any of us were asked we would all respond, “I love my wife.”  That is good, but loving our wives goes so much beyond just saying we love them.  It really comes down to how we act each day.  I am talking about actively loving them.

Are You Afraid Of Change?

Andy Andrews says parenting is the most important job on the planet and I 100% agree with him.  I realize not all of you who are reading my blog are parents yet, but hopefully you will be one day soon.  I gained so much wisdom and insight from All Pro Dad Live this past weekend.   Hands down the most powerful speaker to me was University of Georgia head football coach, Mark Richt .  I am not a UGA fan, but coach Richt
is a phenomenal leader who has his priorities straight.  In the middle of college football season he left practice early on a Saturday to come invest in a group of men who desire to be better fathers.  Coach Richt
shared a 3 point plan for fatherhood.

The #1 Thing To Becoming An All Pro Dad

One of the most important lessons I have learned in leadership is the decision to seek wisdom.

EverythingWeKnow

Author, Andy Andrews, identified the 2nd decision that determines person success to be, “Today I Will Seek Wisdom”.   This is something that sounds good, but is not as easy as we may first think at face value.  Seeking wisdom requires more than just reading and studying.  Now those are definitely a component of seeking wisdom, but seeking wisdom is a very ACTIVE decision.  It requires that we are actively searching.
